“Most people don’t have time to take their PC to in-store experts, wait in line, and then be without it for a few days or more,” said Todd Gebhart, executive vice president and general manager for McAfee Consumer, Mobile and Small Business. “Now consumers can get secure help when they need it, without leaving their house.”
Consumers can speak to McAfee experts from home via phone or chat when computer support is needed. Technicians use secure technology to access the PC remotely to remove malicious viruses or other unwanted programs and provide PC tune-ups to ensure computers are running optimally. To access McAfee Total Care Services, consumers can visit http://www.mcafee.com/total-care. In the U.S., consumers can call (866) 966-8478. McAfee Total Care services are separate offerings and do not replace McAfee’s free 30-day product support for consumers.
Today the McAfee Total Care services include the McAfee Virus Removal Service and the McAfee PC Tune-up Service. In 2010, the service portfolio is expected to expand, giving consumers additional help with the most common computer problems and a convenient way to quickly get up and running, including setting up new computers and installing software.
McAfee Virus Removal Service
Consumers are being hit by savvy cybercriminals more than ever before, and McAfee Labs recently reported that malicious software has reached an all-time high. In fact, by the third quarter of 2009, malware levels had already surpassed the record-breaking levels of 2008.
McAfee Virus Removal Service ($89.95 MSRP) detects and eliminates viruses, Trojans, spyware and other malware from the PC easily and quickly. It also applies security updates to the operating system and includes a pop-up blocker configuration to further reduce re-infections. This service is provided from a users’ home remotely via an Internet connection.
McAfee Virus Removal Service is available globally to customers in the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia with availability expected in more countries in 2010.

McAfee PC Tune-Up Service is a cleaning, updating and configuration service that returns a computer’s performance to its highest potential. The service will delete temporary files, remove unnecessary start-up items and unwanted processes and defragment disks. McAfee will also fine-tune the PC with additional tools and updates.

McAfee New PC Set-Up and Security Service
In 2010, McAfee Total Care services are expected to add New PC Set-up and Security Service to help consumers set-up and secure new computers. Technicians guide users through setting up the monitor, keyboard, Internet connection and even e-mail. They can also remotely install and customize McAfee Internet security software, and remove trial software and unwanted programs to free up memory and make the PC run even faster.
“The McAfee Total Care services give people assurance that no matter when, or how, they need computer help, a security expert will be available 24/7 to fix the problem,” said Gebhart. “McAfee will continue to expand services in 2010 so that consumers can live safe, convenient and confident digital lives.” [December 15, 2009]
