EMC Secure Remote Support Gateway Receives ICSA Labs Certification

EMC Corporation announced that its remote system monitoring solution, the EMC Secure Remote Support Gateway, has been certified by ICSA Labs. ICSA Labs is an independent division of Cybertrust, Inc. and the security industry’s central authority for research intelligence and certification testing of security products. It has recognized the Gateway for meeting industry accepted security standards for remote system monitoring products and maintaining security of the IT environments in which it is deployed.

The Secure Remote Support Gateway is EMC’s high-speed, IP-based remote-system monitoring technology that helps customers minimize system downtime and accelerate issue diagnosis and resolution via a fast, secure link. Delivered by EMC’s Customer Service organization, the Secure Remote Support Gateway uses an IP connection for 24x7 remote monitoring, notification and repair of EMC networked storage systems. It helps customers meet stringent corporate-governance and industry regulations for security with features including control over remote access, authentication, detailed audit logs and encryption.

Cynthia Curtis, EMC’s Senior Director, Customer Service Marketing, said, "Core to EMC’s information-centric security strategy is enhancing the inherent security of the products it offers. ICSA Labs has long been recognized as the global standard for security product certification. Gaining its certification of the EMC Secure Remote Gateway underscores our commitment to help customers address increasing security and compliance concerns with technology and services that deliver the most advanced options, control and security over their EMC products and support experience."

ICSA Labs’ certification of the Secure Remote Support Gateway involved a comprehensive analysis of the technology against criteria including operability, functionality and vulnerability. The Lab’s testing program evaluated security and administrative functionality and rated the overall effectiveness of the Gateway in a variety of scenarios, including Denial of Service (DoS), Trojan attacks and application hijacking. The criteria were based on specific requirements generated through market segment research, security product classification and available features of the category of technology being evaluated.

A full copy of ICSA Lab’s report, which details the testing methodology, can be found at ICSA Lab’s website. More information on the EMC Secure Remote Support Gateway can be found at www.emc.com/global_services/support/.
