Digital Comic Books Now Available for the iPhone and iPod Touch from Warner Bros. Digital Distribution

Warner Bros. Digital Distribution has made available the division’s first digital comic book “Terminator Salvation” for the iPhone and iPod touch. Published by IDW, written by Dara Naraghi (“Lifelike”) and art by Alan Robinson, this must-read multi-part graphic novel details a series of events that have transpired since Judgment Day and culminates with the story found in “Terminator Salvation” from Warner Bros. Pictures. The digital graphic novel is now available on the Apple App Store for $0.99 for each of five episodes or $3.99 for the full collection.

Created by leading app developer Genus, the “Terminator Salvation” prequel uses the powerful Kamikaze: Le Edition engine. This technology allows comic book images to be scaled down without loss of resolution or fidelity. It also provides comic book fans with the ability to easily flip through pages by shaking their wrist and zoom in and out by “pinching” the screen.

“We see digital comics as an exciting new growth category,” said Thomas Gewecke, president, Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. “Consumers want to extend the print experience to their handheld media devices and the iPhone and iPod touch are ideal platforms for delivering rich, immersive, visual experiences. We expect the “Terminator Salvation” prequel to be the first of many digital comic releases over the coming year.” The “Terminator Salvation” prequel, which includes a comic adaptation of the film’s opening scene, is the first of many digital comics that will be launched on the Apple App store from Warner Bros. Digital Distribution. Future series will include classic cartoons as well as well-known action titles.

Five action-packed issues are now available:

Terminator Salvation #1
The year is 2018. With John Connor as the voice of the resistance, the scattered remnants of humanity find themselves united against their common enemy-Skynet and its Terminators. Through a patchwork system of radio transmitters, hacked satellite phones, and encrypted computer networks, resistance leader Elena Maric in Detroit and Nigerian mining engineer Bem Aworuwa have formed an unlikely friendship and drawn up battle plans to take the fight to the Terminators!

Terminator Salvation #2
In the African country of Niger, tempers flare between Bem, Yusuf, and Lysette, as the ragtag group of refugees finalize their plans for an assault on the Skynet uranium mine. Meanwhile, in Detroit, survivalist Jackson Parker’s suicide run against a T-600 is interrupted by the Resistance. Plus, more revelations about Commander Elena Maric’s past history with John Connor.

Terminator Salvation #3
Back in Niger, Bem’s plan to take out the uranium mine depends on the outcome of his face-off against a lone T-600. In Detroit, Michigan, Resistance leader Elena Maric’s forces launch their all-out assault on the Terminator factories. But Skynet is not without its resources, and even the mysterious package airdropped in the middle of the desert may not be enough to turn the tide of operation “Sand in the Gears” in favor of the humans.

Terminator Salvation #4
Operation "Sand in the Gears" is underway! In Detroit, the Resistance has engaged Skynet at the Terminator factory, but with Resistance bombers already in the air, time is running out for Elena’s team to disable the plant’s security grid. Some may die while others live, but as long as one human draws breath, the Resistance will carry on.

Terminator Salvation #5
The year is 2018, and the fight against Skynet enters its latest phase, post-Judgment Day. After Skynet has destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust, a group of survivors led by John Connor struggle to keep the machines from finishing the job.
