Currently in beta, the new Amazon Xbox Live Store allows customers to legitimately buy products from the digital interface as it they were using an Xbox 360. They will receive a download code upon payment, which can be exchanged in Xbox Live Arcade. Just like any Amazon products, users can leave comments and ratings for these items or even recommend some to their friends. More importantly, they can send game purchases as gifts, a service which was not possible before.
"PC gamers have enjoyed the convenience of digital downloads on Amazon.com for some time. Now Amazon.com and Microsoft are bringing that same level of convenience to platform gamers by expanding the reach of the Xbox Live digital platform to millions of Amazon customers", said Greg Hart, Amazon video games and software VP.
Xbox Live business GM Christina DeRosa added : "We’re happy to be extending our storefront to Amazon.com, a cutting-edge online retailer who is helping make digital distribution more mainstream." [April 10, 2009]
