Absolute and McAfee Partner to Offer Consumers Absolute’s Computrace LoJack for Laptops

Absolute’s Computrace LoJack for Laptops, a home and home office computer theft recovery and data protection service, will now be available for purchase at http://home.mcafee.com/Store/ for McAfee customers in the U.S. The addition of Absolute’s Computrace LoJack for Laptops security solution offers McAfee customers a more comprehensive computer security package.

With LoJack for Laptops in place, customers can be assured that if their computer is stolen, the Absolute Theft Recovery Team will gather evidence and work with law enforcement to get their computer back. In addition, customers who purchase a Computrace LoJack for Laptops Premium subscription can remotely delete sensitive files, including financial information and saved passwords to ensure their personal files don’t fall into the wrong hands.

"McAfee security suites in combination with LoJack for Laptops will bring together two of the industry’s leading computer security solutions," said Mark Grace, Vice President, Consumer Business at Absolute. "By using the layered approach to computer security that McAfee security solutions and Absolute’s LoJack for Laptops offer together, customers can rest assured that their computers, data and identities are protected from the growing threats of malicious software and computer theft."

McAfee subscribers who acquire LoJack for Laptops can have the Absolute Theft Recovery Team:
-  Track, locate and physically recover stolen computers
-  Work with law enforcement and gather evidence to help prosecute thieves.
-  Remotely delete and overwrite sensitive information with subscription to the Premium edition of the service.

LoJack for Laptops Premium subscribers can also benefit from a $1,000 Service Guarantee if a computer isn’t recovered or data deleted within 60 days of theft.

How LoJack for Laptops Works
LoJack for Laptops is powered by Absolute’s patented Computrace technology. The Computrace Agent is virtually undetectable and phones home to the Absolute Monitoring Center with location information. If a computer is reported stolen, the Absolute Theft Recovery Team can gather evidence from the computer to identify the thief and get the computer back. When embedded in the firmware of computers from leading computer manufactures,(2) Computrace can survive operating system re-installations, as well as hard-drive reformats, replacements and re-imaging. It can be activated by customers when they purchase a subscription for LoJack for Laptops ranging from 1-4 years.
