Section 8 (TimeGate) steps out of the dark

First-person shooter game Section 8, being developed by TimeGate Studios (Kohan: Immortal Sovereigns, FEAR Files), is set to be released in the third quarter of 2009 on the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Including several imaginative features, it looks like a solid attempt to possibly shake the genre and find by doing so a clientele eager for change.

Walking in a future world, the player is a soldier wearing a special armor of superior technology able of absorbing damage. He will be able to parachute from over 15,000 feet and enter the battlefield without having recourse to conventional processes used in FPSes. Indeed, it is possible to choose exactly where to fall, creating a surprise effect every time. The experience is interactive because defensive systems can perturb this dizzying descent - the player is able to adjust its on-air trajectory accordingly.

Section 8 promises a thorough character customization with modules to boost speed, regeneration or stealth statistics, a ton of weapons (guns, grenades, machine guns, etc.) and the deployment of combat vehicles. As far as the multiplayer is concerned, a maximum of 16 is confirmed for the PS3 and X360 while on the PC, it will be double that number. A beta is available by following this link:
