Videogame developer and publisher Gameloft is recession proof

Amidst the worldwide economy meltdown that sees thousands of professionals take the unemployment route by force, videogames developer and publisher Gameloft recorded incredible sales in 2008. Its revenue went up by 15% compared to 2007 for a total of $149.6 million with profits up to $4.4 million for this fiscal year alone.

Gameloft’s main weapon for massive profit is mobile gaming, which represent 93% of its sales. Recently, the company announced it achieved a new milestone with 200 million downloads of its games. The key to success? Developing the "best games for the mobile phone" with a low cost. Believe it or not, Gameloft has about 300 titles spread across mobile and console platforms.

A deal has been scored by Gameloft to bring UNO, the popular card-based game, to every platform possible. It has also been confirmed the company will work hard to bring many titles to Nintendo’s DSi service, an online shop where players can download applications through the use of the handheld console set to release April 5 2009 in North America.
