Dante’s Inferno first screenshots

Electronic Arts Redwood Shores studio is developing a modern take-on of The Divine Comedy poem by Dante Alighieri, written during the Dark Ages. What was once announced as a 2009 release has now been pushed to 2010 according to numerous reports on the Internet. Dante’s Inferno is heading to the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.

Described as "Dead Space meets God of War in Hell", Dante’s Inferno is an action and platforming game in which the hero must fight mythological creatures such as the mighty Cerberus. In his descent throught the nine circles of Hell, Dante will face vicious foes and be challenged by complex, varied environments. He has many tricks up his sleeve like magic powers and powerful combo attacks.

Unfortunately, not many more details are available. Dante’s Inferno will run at a solid 60 frames per second and its art director is none other than Wayne Barlowe, who worked on a collection of images based on the 14th century poem.
