Dead Rising conquered the hearts of many zombies fans on the Xbox 360 in 2006. The game sold more than 1.5 million copies since its release and almost everyone was wondering why a sequel was not in the works. Capcom decided to throw some light on the situation by announcing the official development of this second entry by canadian studio Blue Castle, located in British Columbia. The game takes place a couple of years after the events of the original title in a United States devastated by the walking dead.
What was once an Xbox 360 exclusive will also be available on the PC and Playstation 3. Capcom no longers distibute its AAA games on a single platform this generation. Dead Rising 2 is best described as the host of thousands of zombies and takes place in a casino named Fortune City, which is a big change from the Willamette Mall in the first game. Many new weapons are to be used against the undead in this sequel, like a bike, a giant cellphone or even a hamster ball in which the player takes place and moves by crushing the monsters. It is unclear if the main protagonist is still journalist Frank West as the official press release lacks details. No release date is available but Capcom specified Dead Rising 2 should be in your hands soon.
