The return of Pikmin

Nintendo prepares its port of Pikmin on the Nintendo Wii. Captain Olimar and the funny colored creatures from an unknown planet will have the chance to be discovered again after their trip to the GameCube platform in 2001. Pikmin is the first of a series of games to be ported on the Wii with added controls adapted to this console. Even if it is only a simple port, this production benefits from two major things added to it compared to the original GameCube game, a save mode where it is possible to beat bosses in any order and a new widescreen resolution (16:9).

This work made by Shigeru Miyamoto places the player in control of Captain Olimar. His spaceship, upon entering an unknown planet’s atmosphere, loses 30 of its parts and it is up to the player to find them with the help of oddly colored creatures, the Pikmin, which follow orders from the astronaut.

This port should cost about $35 and be available early 2009.
