Leading Analyst Firm: Websense the Top Player in Web Security

The Radicati Group, Inc. has named Websense the top player in the corporate Web security market, which the firm predicts will grow in value from $531 million in 2008 to $1.1 billion by 2012. In the report "Corporate Web Security Market Quadrant 2008," The Radicati Group states that securing Web traffic includes spyware and malware protection, URL filtering and classification, and preventing data leakage. The analyst group scored Websense higher in the areas of product functionality and market share than any other vendor evaluated.

"The Internet changes second by second and Web protection must adapt to the latest threats," said Sara Radicati, President and CEO, The Radicati Group. "As the leader in Web security, Websense is keeping up with emerging threats by offering Web security, URL filtering, data loss prevention, and tools to ensure the safe use of Web 2.0-based sites and applications."

The report also highlighted that "Websense does not rely solely upon signature-based detection like other vendors, but also provides Web reputation and behavior-based detection methods, ensuring that even new and unknown threats are detected." Websense Web security products are powered by the Websense® ThreatSeeker™ Network, which discovers and analyzes billions of disparate pieces of Internet content every day to rapidly identify newly infected sites, malware and attack methods.

"Only Websense provides Essential Information Protection™ against new and emerging threats through our integrated suite of Web security, email security and data loss prevention solutions," said Leo Cole, Vice President of Marketing, Websense. "We’re pleased that The Radicati Group recognizes the value that our comprehensive portfolio provides our customers and named Websense the top player in Web security, in terms of both product functionality and market penetration."
