Paramount and Player X Collaborate To Co-Distribute Mobile Games and Video

Mobile media company Player X has entered into a deal with Paramount Mobile Entertainment to publish mobile games and mobile video Retrosodes based on Paramount Pictures’ library of films. Under the terms of the agreement, PlayerX is entering into a three-year deal where they have agreed to publish three mobile games and three sets of video Retrosodes based on Paramount Pictures movie properties.

Retrosodes are a series of mobile video episodes up to three minutes long that are based on iconic retro content updated for a new mobile audience and can be downloaded via carrier portals or Player X’s mobile TV channels, geekTV and Zapper TV.

Player X will produce, publish and co-distribute the Retrosodes and games through its distribution deals with more than 140 global carriers giving it a potential reach of over 1.8 billion people.

"This is great news for the company and the deal with Paramount Mobile Entertainment is a perfect fit with our mobile distribution and Paramount Pictures fantastic content. Over the next three years we will bring to market games and Retrosodes of the highest possible quality," said Tony Pearce, Player X CEO.

“It is always exciting for us to partner with companies like Player X who have developed unique ways to re-distribute our catalogue of titles through wireless applications,” states Sandi Isaacs, Senior Vice President Mobile & Interactive, Paramount Mobile Entertainment.

The news follows Player X’s 2008 deal as the exclusive aggregator for all of Virgin Mobile UK’s mobile games and video content and follows a successful 2007 when the company was announced as the UK’s fourth-fastest growing VC-backed company in the UK.
