McAfee delivers McAfee M-8000 Network Security Platform and the McAfee Content Security Blade Server

McAfee announced two products that strengthen the company’s leadership position in network security. McAfee M-8000 Network Security Platform (formerly known as McAfee IntruShield Network Intrusion Prevention) and the McAfee Content Security Blade Server eliminate performance bottlenecks, reduce complexity and deliver uncompromised intrusion prevention, e-mail and Web security.

Large organizations are adopting high-speed 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks in order to conduct business more quickly and efficiently. These organizations need intrusion prevention systems that can keep up with the speed of these networks and provide more actionable, integrated and efficient security. McAfee Network Security Platform is the only single product solution with the breadth of coverage and performance and true 10Gbps performance.

In the same environments, customers require high-performance and scalable e-mail and Web security solutions. By offering this security in a blade server format, customers benefit from breakthrough performance, vastly reduced complexity and a lower total cost of ownership.

McAfee extends its lead in network security by being first to deliver integrated e-mail and Web security that scans up to five million messages per hour and up to 50,000 concurrent Web users. As the first company to deliver a fully extensible content security platform for e-mail and Web security, McAfee also becomes the first to deliver multi-Gigabit network IDS/IPS, virtual IPS technology and encrypted threat protection. McAfee is also the first company to integrate IPS with vulnerability management, NAC and system security management.

McAfee Network Security Platform

The McAfee Network Security Platform is designed to meet the explosive growth of IPS in the network core and data center, as well as the rapid growth of high-performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet networks. McAfee Network Security Platforms provide carrier-class reliability and scalability that large enterprises demand. McAfee was the first to integrate signature, behavioral and DoS/DDoS detection on a single purpose-built appliance.

The McAfee Network Security Platform allows customers to simplify deployments while supporting higher throughputs. Customers also receive integrated protection, an easy-to-use platform, broad asset protection, maximized business availability, reduced liability, and security cost avoidance — all with 10 Gbps performance without security trade-offs.

McAfee Content Security Blade Server

McAfee’s new Content Security Blade Server represents a breakthrough in e-mail and Web security. The product has been designed to scale easily from 700,000 to five million messages per hour and 50,000 Web users simply by adding more blades. The blade server features built-in failover and redundancy, a built-in resource manager which removes the need for external load balancer, and the ability to "hot-swap" blades. As the market leader in blade infrastructure, HP is supplying HP BladeSystem c-Class products to McAfee for the Content Security Blade Server.

McAfee’s Content Security Blade Server provides a fully extensible content security platform offering E-mail security, Web security, URL filtering, anti-spam, anti-phishing, and safe searching stopping all of today’s growing malware threats. Additionally, organizations benefit from lower cost of ownership by reducing the need to purchase and manage multiple point products. McAfee also offers flat rate pricing (no per user fees) which provides significant cost savings.

Energy Efficiency, Cost Savings and Environmental Benefits

McAfee’s Content Security Blade Server provides several benefits for companies that are working to adopt "green" computing practices. The product helps companies save 25% on datacentre costs, which include power and cooling. Compared with traditional appliance or server form factors, the Content Security Blade Server also reduces space requirements, helping companies reduce the physical footprint needed to manage security.
