Napster to Offer Digital Music Service Across Wide Range of Toshiba Notebooks

Napster, Inc. confirmed a broad marketing campaign with Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division, that will put the Napster To Go digital music service at the fingertips of customers who purchase Toshiba Satellite and Qosmio notebook computers in the United States. As part of the campaign, Toshiba Satellite and Qosmio notebook computers will come with the award-winning software pre-loaded for one-click access straight out of the box.

The campaign gives Toshiba customers instant access to millions of music tracks with a free, 30-day trial subscription to Napster To Go, as well as unlimited, on-demand access to Napster’s catalogue of more than 4 million songs. Napster subscribers enjoy interactive, advertisement-free radio stations, playlists developed by music-industry professionals, and a host of community features to encourage discovery of new music. In addition to PC-listening capabilities, the Napster To Go service also lets music fans transfer an unlimited number of music tracks to any compatible MP3 player or music-enabled cell phone without paying per track.

"Working with Toshiba, which is one of the pre-eminent names in mobile computing and consumer electronics, again demonstrates Napster’s brand equity and the value we offer to subscribers," said Napster CEO Chris Gorog. "Consumers who purchase the latest Toshiba notebooks will have instant access to digital music courtesy of the pre-installed Napster software. We’re excited to share music with them and to introduce them to Napster."

Jeff Barney, vice president of marketing, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division, added, "By extending the Napster service on our notebook computers, Toshiba is able to offer its customers immediate access to the best in digital music, ranging from a massive catalogue to exclusive content. When our customers invest in a Toshiba notebook, they expect the best technology on the market. With Napster, we’re pleased to give them the opportunity to enjoy tremendous digital entertainment right out of the box."
