Telus announces five-year contract with Best Buy

Telus announced that it has signed a five-year, multi-million dollar contract with Best Buy Canada Ltd. to connect all of its stores across Canada with a private IP network. Specific financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Joe Natale, president of Telus Business Solutions, said, " Telus IP networks simplify the challenge of managing multiple brands and numerous locations across Canada. Through our next generation secure network, Best Buy will have access to innovation that delivers a truly unique shopping experience. This new partnership reflects Telus ongoing commitment to being the leading provider of IP-based network solutions in Canada, creating exceptional network foundations on which our customers can build business success."

Telus IP network will carry voice, video and data over a single network infrastructure, allowing Best Buy to reduce costs. At the same time, Best Buy is enhancing its communication capabilities, meeting customer demands through advanced applications designed to improve efficiencies, supporting sales staff and delivering a unique shopping experience to Canadians.

The Telus IP solution is fully compatible with Best Buy Canada’s existing network, reducing implementation risks and enabling new productivity-enhancing applications like a new point- of-sale system, video conferencing, multimedia, gaming, and music.
