CAE has sold four full-flight simulators (FFSs), including: the world’s first full-flight simulator (FFS) for the new AVIC Medium-Sized Transport aircraft to the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), an A330 FFS to Singapore Airlines, an A320 FFS to Zhuhai Flight Training Center (ZFTC), a joint venture of China Southern Airlines and CAE, and an Embraer ERJ 190/195 to an undisclosed European customer.

CAE also sold simulator updates as well as a series of training devices to various customers. They include CAE Simfinity(TM) Integrated Procedures Trainers (IPTs), Airbus Procedures Trainers (APT), Flight Training Devices (FTDs) and CAE Simfinity Virtual Simulators (VSIM).

The contracts are worth a total of more than C$65 million at list prices and bring the total number of FFS sales that CAE has announced to date during fiscal year 2013 to four.

AVIC

The CAE 7000 Series FFS will incorporate the new third-generation CAE Tropos(TM)-6000 visual system and will be ready for use at AVIC’s facility in Yan Liang, China in Spring 2013. The FFS will be Ready for Training by the end of 2014, initially qualified to Interim Level C standards. The simulator will be qualified to Level D standards once aircraft flight data is available.

CAE has designed, developed and delivered the industry’s first full-flight simulators for more than 40 new aircraft representing 16 different original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

In addition to the sale of the world’s first simulator for the new AVIC Medium-Sized Transport aircraft, AVIC will make use of CAE’s Augmented Engineering Environment (AEE) toolkit in the development of the aircraft. CAE’s AEE enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to evaluate, test, and validate a range of aircraft models and systems during the development phase.

Singapore Airlines (SIA)

The A330 simulator will be deployed to the SIA Training Centre in Singapore in 2013 and will feature a third-generation CAE Tropos-6000 visual system. SIA already operates a CAE-built A330/340 FFS, as well as CAE simulators for the Boeing 747-400, 757/767 and 777.

Zhuhai Flight Training Centre (ZFTC)

ZFTC’s eighth A320 FFS will be delivered in 2013 to the training centre in Zhuhai, People’s Republic of China. ZFTC is the largest independent commercial aviation training centre in China, currently operating 16 FFSs.
