Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows Provides Best Endpoint Control Functionality in Independent Testing

Kaspersky Lab announced that the results of the first independent feature and manageability evaluation of corporate IT endpoint security solutions have been published. The comparative evaluation, which tested similar products from five major vendors, was conducted by The Tolly Group, one of the leading independent product testing labs. The evaluation illustrates the superiority of the latest endpoint protection solution from Kaspersky Lab.

Of particular note are its intelligent controls, which range from ready-to-initiate templates, to providing granular control over each feature. Kaspersky Lab’s clients already benefit from the highest level of protection, but can now enjoy even more comprehensive IT security with advanced and granular control of Windows-based machines.

Compared to the competition, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows presents a number of unique and enhanced features. Among those highlighted by The Tolly Group are extensive Application Control functionality with flexible Default Deny implementation, which is absent in the majority of competing products. Kaspersky Lab’s Default Deny feature is supported by the highest number of options to enable control of applications using categories such as a program’s metadata, checksum or file path. Also provided is a built-in “golden image” option to exclude system processes and “trusted updater” categories.

With respect to web control, Kaspersky Lab’s solution was found to be the only one that provides “across- the-board web management and protection in a single product”. Finally, the Kaspersky Lab Device Control feature set was deemed the most extensive compared with the competition, with only one competing solution capable of providing comparable levels of granular control. However, to achieve comparable device control this competitor requires a user to purchase separate solutions.

Nikolay Grebennikov, Chief Technology Officer of Kaspersky Lab, commented: “Although, every security software vendor pays much attention to anti-malware protection for corporate endpoints, this is not the only ingredient of better IT security. The best result is achieved when businesses treat their IT systems as a complex structure that has to be effectively managed in real time. The evaluation by The Tolly Group confirms that our solution offers the most diverse set of tools to protect, control and manage corporate endpoints, with efficient out-of-the-box templates as well as granular control of all aspects of business IT Security.”

Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows was launched on 6 October 2011, along with the company’s brand new Kaspersky Security Center management solution. This solution is a significant and important addition to the Kaspersky Open Space Security corporate security suite. The major benefits of the new endpoint security solution for businesses are deep anti-malware protection, support for the cloud-based Kaspersky Security Network, comprehensive Whitelisting options, and advanced Device, Application and Web Control functionality.

The feature and manageability review from The Tolly Group supplements recent independent testing of malware protection efficiency conducted by AV-Test.org. In this testing Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows was awarded first place, based on its effective protection, removal of malicious software, performance and usability. The results from AV-Test.org coupled with the analysis from The Tolly Group illustrate that Kaspersky Lab offers comprehensive solutions and deep protection for its current and future customers.
