FremantleMedia : UFA subsidiary teamWorx wins “Best Mini-series” and “Best TV Movie” at the German Television Awards

FremantleMedia, one of the largest creators and producers of television entertainment brands in the world, proudly celebrates the achievements of its German production arm UFA which has topped the Kress Report production rankings for the fifth consecutive year. Concurrently, UFA’s excellence in production has once more been recognised with the company’s subsidiary teamWorx winning in two categories at the German Television Awards. Hindenburg,based-on the last voyage of the famous airship, was named “Best Mini-series” while Homevideo, the first movie drama about cyber bullying, was named “Best TV Movie”.

Success at the German Television Awards had been assured for teamWorx as it received all three nominations in the ‘Best Mini-series’ category. Along with Hindenburg, teamWorx received nominations for Der kalte Himmel (The Cold Sky) a drama discussing autism and Go West - Freiheit um jeden Preis (Go West - Freedom At Any Price) which brings to life the daring escape of three youths from cold war East Germany.

The Kress Report has formally recognised UFA as the leading producer in Germany for the fifth year in a row in its annual rankings, which are based on a producer’s volume of hit shows in the market and are widely respected among Germany’s media, marketing and communications industries.

Wolf Bauer, CEO, UFA Film & TV Produktion said, “The achievement of teamWorx at the German Television Awards has topped a fantastic year for UFA’s production operations. We are honoured to have won this prestigious award that reflects our teams’ capabilities in leading the field in the creation of cutting-edge, innovative entertainment. This is further underlined by our position in the Kress Report’s ranking, which we have topped for five consecutive years. With a distinguished heritage and exceptional catalogue of hit shows across genres, UFA is a highly efficient creator of entertaining programming that includes 25 daily and weekly formats on air. We have more long-running programmes in the market than any other producer and by orientating ourselves to the needs of our clients, the TV stations, as well as their viewers,we have been able to successfully develop tailor-made programmes for every schedule slot that have included some of the most innovative interactive elements in the market today.
