Mass Effect 2 Named Canada’s Game of the Year, Wins Four Awards

The Canadian Videogame Awards were handed out in Vancouver on May 19, with Mass Effect 2 from Bioware/Electronic Arts taking home four awards, including Canadian Game of the Year. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood from Ubisoft Montreal received two awards and individual winners included Deathspank, Kinect and Osmos for iPad among others. New awards for 2011 included Best Student Game which was won by WOMP!, from the Centre for Digital Media and the Innovation Award which went to ModNation Racers, developed by United Front Games.


"Congratulations to all of the winners tonight and to all of the incredible games nominated," said Victor Lucas, host and executive producer of The Electric Playground and CVA co-founder, "the work on display at the ceremony tonight was world-class and illustrated once again that Canadian game developers are second to none when it comes to creating interactive entertainment!

A 60-minute special on the Canadian Videogame Awards is scheduled to premiere on G4 Canada on May 29. The CVA’s are sponsored by in part by Kinect for XBOX 360, G4 Canada, Sony PlayStation, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bioware, EA Sports, Nintendo 3DS, Relic Entertainment, The Georgia Straight and the Entertainment Software Association of Canada.
